Job description

Support Worker (3370)

We have an exciting opportunity for a female support worker to join our dedicated team in 4 Pen Y Bryn. In this role, you will support people to build relationships, try new things, and feel part of their community – so that they can live good lives.

You will need to hold a full UK driving license for this role.

About the home

We are a small female only team that has been together for many years and we all have our strengths and work together to have a consistent approach with the ladies we support in their home. We have two people we support who have lived in the service for many years together. Both ladies have down syndrome and mild learning disabilities and require different levels of support in varied areas of their lives such as personal care, support in the community and managing money, that's where you come in. We encourage a “do with” not a “do for” support where we promote independence, choice and voice. Both ladies are very outgoing and enjoy exploring the community each day whether for an organised external activity or spot of lunch with a view the choice is theirs. Being able to prepare meals, helping to keep the service tidy and handling paperwork are daily duties. Our two ladies are warm, caring, cheeky individuals who will always leave you smiling throughout the day.

About Mirus

For 40 years, we have provided support so people can do the things they love, achieve their goals, and live good lives - always with voice, choice, and control.

We support people with learning disabilities, mental ill-health, and autistic people. Our services are shaped by the people who use them – we listen to and value each person's unique voice and experiences, creating an environment where everyone feels heard and understood.

We know that people have better lives when they feel part of their community – and the community benefits too! That's why we work with others to build networks that encourage people to explore opportunities, discover new interests, develop relationships, and enhance their independence.

Everything we do is guided by our values: Together, Respectful, Responsible, Empowering, and Courageous.
